[edit] ipFax Center Print Driver
When you install ipFax Center 2.0 you have the option to install the ipFax Print Driver, which is recommended in almost every case. This print driver, designed specifically for ipFax Center, is essential for faxing documents of any type. Here you can find some common problems that appear when trying to configure and use our print driver.
[edit] Initial Installation
Upon intial installation of ipfax Center you will encounter a step during the Client install that requires you to enter the IP address of the ipFax Server. Make sure that the IP address or machine name you enter is accurate or you will have to follow the instructions below to fix this error.
The most common issue our clients face is when they switch the ipFax Server to a different location, and thus change the server IP address. This makes it necessary to change the IP address on the ipFax Client so it points to the new server address.
There are two solutions to this problem. One requires a reinstallation of the ipFax Client and the other just requires some changes in the Windows print driver ports.
[edit] Remove and Reinstall
If you know little about manipulating print driver ports then this method is recommended. Go to the 'Add/Remove Programs' link in 'My Computer' and then remove the ipfax Center Client. Then install the client again and got through the usuall installation, entering the new IP address of the server when you are prompted. This method will NOT remove any old faxes or history because all faxes are stored on the server.
[edit] Port Configuration
This method does not require reintallation, and takes less time then the first solution. Go to the 'Printers and faxes' folder in the Control Panel. From that point, right click on the ipFax Center icon and then click Properties.
When the properties menu pops up, click on the 'Ports' tab. The ipFax Driver should be selected as shown below. In order to change the print driver location you must click on a different print driver, and select 'Apply'.
Now select the ipFax print driver and click 'Delete' to delete the port. Next, click on 'Add Port' and the window below should appear like the one below.
Select the ipfax driver and double click on it. When you do, a window will pop up asking you to enter the IP address of the ipFax Server. Enter the appropriate IP and the save the settings.
After this is done, select the newly created ipFax driver port and click 'Apply'. Now you are ready to send faxes again as normal!
